I wanted to come to Grand Teton National Park because of a photo that appeared in Airstream Life about a year ago. It was taken by Anna Sullivan and it was of a moose next to an Airstream at Gros Ventre Campground.
I’ve been following Anna’s blog since then, and recently we connected on Facebook. It turned out that she was in the area the at same time that we were, so we ended up meeting her and her husband Paul for wine at their Airstream.
When I mentioned that I needed to see a moose, Anna invited us to join them the next morning at Gros Ventre Campground where they’ve had a lot of luck with moose sightings.
As luck would have it we saw 4 moose; one bull, one cow and twin calves. Pictured above is Anna taking photos of the bull.
The bull spent a lot of time scratching his antlers.
When he wasn’t scratching his antlers, he was eating.
Apparently it is very unusual for a cow and her calves to be hanging out with a bull.
I had such an awesome time. Thanks to Anna for inviting us and thanks to Brian for getting out of bed at the crack of dawn.
