Boondocking Beauty Secrets

February 20, 2013  |  blog

While boondocking, we take less showers because we have to conserve water. On non-shower days I’ve been wearing my green snake bandana (aka doo-rag) that I bought in Anza Borrego.

On shower days, I’ve really been missing my hairdryer. It’s actually the only “amenity” that I miss and could be solved with a bigger inverter. Without a hairdryer I have flat thin hair. Well, with some recent experimentation with big rollers, I’ve solved that issue and am embracing my trailer lifestyle.

Dinner Last Night:
Black Eyed Pea and Mung Bean Stew. Mixed Dal. We’ve never had mung beans before (that we know of) and this recipe was delicious. We had it with some heated up naan from whole foods and a kale salad.

Yeah when our 1000w inverter went out and we got the 2000w one to replace it, I’d have to say the biggest perk was the ability to add a hair dryer.

  6. I love this post Leigh and the photos of you are spectacular. You have no reason to be camera shy.:)

  7. You should have put on an avocado mask with the curlers. Your after picture is gorgeous!

  9. hey, Leigh….after your time w/o a blow dryer, you will find your hair is thicker…blow dryers are really hard on the hair….I bet you will see improvement…..surprised you have room to store those gigantic rollers….cannot believe you, my idol, would have a thought about your beautiful self….xoxo
