Grateful for Everything

April 9, 2014  |  blog

This morning as we were walking on the boardwalk I felt very lucky that I get to take a new walk to work each week, while most people commute to the same location every day.

Brian and I regularly talk to each other about how lucky we are, and it turns out it’s actually good for our health:

“Cultivating an ‘attitude of gratitude’ has been linked to better health, sounder sleep, less anxiety and depression, higher long-term satisfaction with life and kinder behavior toward others, including romantic partners.”
- New York Times: A Serving of Gratitude May Save the Day

What are you grateful for? xoxo

Dinner Last Night:
I’m grateful for food! Last night we had Cream of Mushroom Soup. It’s both easy and delicious.

2014 Cost of Camping:

16 night paid camping
84 nights free camping

Total spent on camping this year: $485

  1. Stevyn and I experienced those same feelings during our trip as well….part of which was meeting great people like you and Brian.

    • Thanks Troy, we feel exactly the same way. What I love even more than meeting new people, is reconnecting again somewhere else. Hopefully we’ll see you guys when we pass through Missouri (though your driveway really scares me).

  2. What a great perspective on your lives!

Your daily blogs offers such a great diversity of people, places, and realizations!

BTW, Mary once performed ( a song she wrote called “An Attitude of Gratitude.”

  3. I hear you! Lots of changes in my life this year, but I think gratitude is one of those things that gets me through. I’ve actually got a lot of gratitude for gratitude — hah — I know it doesn’t come so easily to some.

  4. John and I say that at least once a day. We truly are living the dream. I can’t imagine seeing this beautiful country any other way.

  5. Grateful for my talented lovely daughter, capable kind son in law, and for the amazing Curtis! xxoo

  6. PS We watched a really good TED talk about happiness- he mentions gratitude towards the end.

  7. Grateful for my health, my home, friends, travel. But most of all for my 3 great kids, 2 wonderful daughters-in-law and a super fantastic grandson.

  8. We also try to approach each day with an attitude of gratitude. This approach to life, and living in the moment, certainly helps when struggles enter our lives. Great post Leigh. BTW, love your mom’s comment. Put a smile on my face. :)

  9. You forgot to mention the most obvious thing to be grateful for. You deeply appreciate having a new walk to work each week. But that is only due to having a tow vehicle and specifically a travel trailer for a moving home. But not just ANY trailer—you have a beautiful AIRSTREAM! Just like some rich and famous movie stars. And unlike them, the freedom to use it. How absolutely wonderful is that? :)

    • Hi Craig! You’re right, it IS wonderful! Thanks for reminding me. Grateful for gratitude (and everyone’s comments).
