Kofa National Wildlife Refuge

March 2, 2013  |  blog

Yesterday after work we kick-off of the weekend by going to the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. Apparently there are big horn sheep here, but we only saw birds.

We also found some opportunity for boondocking by a location within the refuge called Crystal Hill. There wasn’t anyone camping while we were there, but there was definitely evidence of past campfires and obvious campsites. In addition to camping the park allows “recreational (noncommerical) rockhounding,” I think for quartz crystals.

2013 Cost of Camping:
14 nights paid camping
46 nights free camping
Total spent on camping this year: $407.75
Daily average cost of camping: $6.80
