Recycling Service

April 16, 2013  |  blog

Yesterday afternoon this character approached our campsite on his 4-wheeler asking if we had any recycling. As a matter of fact we had a TON of recycling. We haven’t found a place to drop it in awhile so we’ve been carrying it around in the back of our truck.

Frank, pictured above, said he’ll come by every afternoon to pick up our recycling because he wants to keep the desert clean. Not like we’d dump it, but how cool is that?!

Dinner Last Night:
Portabella Mushroom Cheesesteaks. This sandwich looked so great when I made it that I took a photo of it. Though I’m not going to bother posting it because it didn’t taste as great as it looked. It was just ok. I felt like it needed something more.

If you’re looking for a good portobello sandwich, this one is way better: Open-Faced Mushroom, Tomato, and Goat-Cheese Sandwich.

2013 Cost of Camping:
16 nights paid camping
89 nights free camping
Total spent on camping this year: $495.75
Daily average cost of camping: $4.72

  1. What a great guy to provide such a useful service! Too bad about the cheesecake sandwich cause the picture of it on Oh My Veggie looks awesome. Although, looking at the ingredients it does sound a little bland. I think we’ll try the other recipe though. Anything with goat cheese is sure to be good.

  2. What a great guy! Thanks goodness most people do take their litter with them. Wish everyone did.

I love portabella mushrooms! Sandwich looks great. Maybe more garlic and some heat.

  3. That is wonderful. One of the most frustrating thing for us when we travel is not being able to find a recycling facility!

  4. He came by when we were there last month too! Has he come by yet this time around?
