T-Shirt Selection

For this year’s Campendium Fundraiser, I spent a lot of time researching t-shirt printers and buying sample shirts.

Pictured above, is Brian in a sample we ordered that shows a print method where they bleach the dye out of the shirt. We loved it so much that we’re doing this year’s “vintage T’s” with this method, and the men’s shirts will be the same brand as the sample. (Brian is wearing a size Large).

The print method for the Vintage T’s required a tri-blend of polyester/cotton/rayon which limits our options. I ordered a bunch of shirt samples, looking for something soft, that also had reasonable sizes. Pictured is the the women’s shirt we’re using in a size medium which fits me fine, though I’m considering ordering a large.

For the classic T, we’re using the same brand men’s shirt as last year, though we’re upgrading the print quality. During the research process I learned that the shirts last year were digitally printed and our new printer screenprints using a special hybrid style of printing with a discharge underbase and special soft inks on top. Pictured above, Brian is wearing last year’s print job in a large.

Finding the right women’s T was not easy. Last year, I didn’t order shirt samples in advance and thought the women’s shirt was a little scratchy. This year, I felt it was important to find a soft shirt that came in realistic sizes. Pictured above, I’m wearing a small, though I think I’ll order a medium since it’s a tiny bit too short in the torso.

This is the Juniors shirt. It’s great for teens or ladies who don’t mind ordering 2 sizes up (it shrinks down a size)! Pictured above, I’m wearing a large. By the way, the logo is from a few years ago and won’t be as small this year.

I’d love to show you a photo of the hoodie sample we got, but somehow we lost it! It’s super cozy and warm and I like it better than the hoodie last year. We got our sample in a large, but will be ordering mediums.

If anyone who has already ordered is now second guessing their sizes, please reply to your receipt and let me know. There’s still time to make a change.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Hi, this is the Wilson Family and we have been following your blog for many years and this is the first time we have made touch with you. We just want to know when you all will be getting another dog companion.

    Hey there aluminarium.

We are camped in this weird , but kind of nice place that costs too much, off the road south of Lake Curlew. It’s called Winchester. We were ok with it but the office is closed on Saturday. Then tonight we got this guy coming over (after 4 days) trying to give us religious literature. Bummer. Since the office was closed on Saturday, we guess it’s a Seventh Day adventist site. They like community and are big on RV parks. We could be ok with that, since our daughter is one of those and married to the black son of an Adventist misister from Jamaica, and we love her and certainly the grandkids, but are not necesarily are open to the religion., Ceratainly not the way it happened. Sort of explained a lot of open questions. We ain’t religious types. I have an addiction to real philosophy. But, whatever that’s worth.

So we have been out here a while, driving around and photographing. We have done that, and continue to do that after some 50 years or so. We found that site in Wauconda (which I remember fondly from a song back in the ’70’s – yes, old not quite hippy – too old. Owe my tinitis to Janis Joplin). You reviewed it. In your review, you said that you knew the owner from a previous encounter. I would like to contact that owner if you can help me. with that. It is my kind of place. Open, no information, pay by conscience. I’d love to send my friends. They have guitars and know songs.

We are going to stay there tomorrow whether I hear from you or not. It’s totally empty except for that fifth wheel you have pictured. We saw them leave the other day. If that is him/them- the owners – we’ll pay them happily, or send them money later if that is the way it has to be. It is a perfect place for us, because we just need someplace to crash in our trailer while we go our and shoot pix over in Ancient Bodie. If it isn’t them, we’ll stay there anyway and hope they will come by and collect. Anyway, that is what we are going to do. No information otherwise is available. It is a total mystery. And that is ok too, if not actually preferred. I really like this kind of stuff, where I have to figure out who to pay. It is so UN American!

If you can help us understand this interesting problem, I’d appreciate knowing what you might understand that we haven’t figured out yet.

Thanks for the review, and I hope we’ll run into you one of these days. We’ll be following. Not all reviews are the same. Yours seem to fit our program pretty well. most do not.

    Hey Leigh & Bryan,
Hope you are both well. I love the quality of the Campendium shirts and since we have two sets already I am curious who you went with for shirt supplier. Nothing urks me more that bad quality T’s, so I am going to make of few of my own. If you don’t mind let me know open or privately as just want to save some leg work.
Cheers and see you both sooner than later.

Hey Denny, I’m glad you like the shirts! The past 2 years we used a company called Threadbird. The first year there was a major problem with the order, but they made good on it. Hope this helps!
