Water Boy

January 16, 2013  |  blog

My mom and I were chatting recently about boondocking and she didn’t realize that we could fill the trailer with water without actually having to take it somewhere.

In addition to our 39 gallon fresh water tank, we carry 4 five gallon water jugs and 1 six gallon jug. The five gallon jugs are new to our collection. We waited until the last minute to find something to put water in and the sparklets style container was all we could find. At first Brian figured he’d use a funnel to pour the water in, but holding the jugs would become a tiresome chore. Then he realized he could just siphon the water.

Dinner Last Night:
Finishing off the brussels sprouts with Quinoa with Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Leeks and Slivered Almonds. Because I only had one light on, I accidentally used millet instead of quinoa. It turned out great.

  1. We carry one of these jerry can around for this exact purpose, the spout fits into the fresh water port perfectly.

  2. Leigh – I love watching the daily average figure slowly tick downwards. Am I correct to assume that you will cringe in horror the day this number ceases to drop and begins to climb? :)

  3. there are lots of simple and inexpensive siphon pumps out there to make the job even easier…

  4. I remember Dad siphoning out the dirty water when we cleaned our aquarium. He quite often had an inadvertent sip.

  5. lot of work…lots of fun…
