Yosemite Campground Scouting

Sunday we woke up in Yosemite Valley to sunshine, so we headed out for a day of campground scouting.

moon-rise
We walked from our campground to the 2 neighboring campgrounds and while none of them have what we look for in a campground, Lower Pines has the best sun exposure and possible views. Pictured above, the moonrise from our campground.

Next we visited Wawona campground and then had lunch at the nearby lodge where a bird was stealing splenda from the table.

crane-flat
My favorite campground for the day was Crane Flat. It’s 25 minutes from Yosemite Village, it wasn’t very full and the campsites are father apart and have more privacy. (Photos still need to be uploaded on Campendium.)

Today, Brian is scouting the East side of Yosemite on his own and it’s back to work for me.

Dinner last night:
Lentil Sloppy Joes and coleslaw. We’ve had the sloppy joes before and really like them. The coleslaw I substituted vegan mayo and sour cream. Both were great!

2015 Cost of Camping:
79 night paid camping
78 nights free camping
157 days this year
Total spent: $1380.97
Daily average cost: $8.80

The Yosemite area is a tough one for parks if you want hookups. Staying in Yosemite wasn’t real impressive either. We stayed at the Mariposa Fairgorunds which was the closest we could get to the park with any hookups. We had water and sewer in a grassy yard. But the little town was cute.

We really liked the Lentil Sloppy Joes. It was a great mixture to freeze for a quick future meal. I;m sure I got the recipe from you:)
