Las Cienegas NCA

February 20, 2014  |  Arizona

We usually don’t move locations during the week, but yesterday at lunch we towed our house an hour west to the Cieneguita Primitive Camp Area in the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area.

There is both 4G AT&T and Verizon, and with 22 HDTV channels it’s too bad we’re only going to be here for 3 nights. Would you believe Saturday we start the slow crawl north?!

Dinner Last Night:
The night before last we had Porcini Mushroom Quinoa Risotto. I thought it was just ok, but Tim and Brian cleaned their plates. Last night we had Nacho Potatoes, which we just had that last month, but it’s so easy.

2014 Cost of Camping:
0 nights paid camping
49 nights free camping
49 days this year
Total spent on camping this year: $0
Daily average cost of camping: $0

  1. I really do have to try the Nacho Potatoes. They look wonderful but then I readthe recipe and change my mind. It just sounds like lots of steps and work. I was planning to do this for the Super Bowl. But I ran out of energy and made regular Nachos…oh well! One day soon I will try this recipe.

Enjoy your new spot even if only a few days:)

  2. That sounds nice! Tucson boondocking is hard to find, once you’ve stayed as long as you want at Snyder Hill.

The link didn’t work for me; is it http://www.blm.gov/az/st/en/prog/recreation/camping/dev_camps/cieneguita.html ?
