Tombstone Boondocking

February 10, 2014  |  Arizona

A few months ago, our friend Tim, AKA “Van Tramp” told us about his secret boondocking spot outside of Tombstone, AZ. We recently compared itineraries and it turned out that he would be able to meet us there.

The campsite is on state land that where some ranchers have a lease to graze their cattle. It was also the site of a mining facility, but all that remains are some cement slabs which serve as great pads to park the trailer.

Oh, and that other trailer, that’s MaliMish we can’t get enough of them.

Dinner Last Night:
On Sunday’s I have a little more time for cooking than usual, so yesterday I went all out and cooked dinner for the adults. We had Pico de Gallo (minus the oyster mushrooms in the recipe since I used them all on Friday by accident) and chips. Then we had Sweet Potato Black Bean Enchiladas, but I used a butternut squash instead of sweet potato. We also had mexican rice and a simple salad. We topped it off with Vegan Richa’s Spiced Apple Cake, and since I was tired of cooking, I didn’t bother with the caramel syrup.

2014 Cost of Camping:
0 nights paid camping
39 nights free camping
39 days this year
Total spent on camping this year: $0
Daily average cost of camping: $0
