Buckeye Regional Park

February 12, 2013  |  Arizona, camping

Buckeye Regional Park is just west of Phoenix and has free dispersed camping. We’re impressed that it’s free since each “campsite” comes with a shaded picnic table and a GARBAGE CAN! A big bonus, since finding a place to get rid of garbage is part of the boondocking chore list.

Cell and data are great here, full bars of 4G AT&T and Verizon. We also get over the air television. I wonder if the town of Buckeye is going to be as awesome as this campsite.

My Dad mentioned that he would like to see other angles on our locations, since I try and make the spot look as fabulous as possible. Well, pictured above are the only other campers in sight (behind that RV is an Airstream). I’ll put a shot of what’s behind us on Facebook.

There’s another loop for camping, but it’s much more populated.

Dinner Last Night:
Well, before I go into dinner, we had a really awesome lunch. Roasted Butternut Squash Slider with Caramelized onions and Sriracha Mayo, wow that was good. Her method of cooking the squash in the skin is genius. I saved the left-overs for risotto tonight.

For dinner we had Spaghetti & No-Meatballs with a salad. Brian said “who needs meat?” as we gobbled it down. It was delicious.

2013 Cost of Camping:
13 nights paid camping
29 nights free camping
Total spent on camping this year: $400.25
Daily average cost of camping: $9.53

  1. We are definitely checking this place out. Isn’t it funny how exciting it is to have your own garbage can!

  2. Good to hear you guys made it to Buckeye. I believe I will take another few days in the park later this week myself.

  3. I’m there right now! [Don’t tell anyone.] Toilets! Well, you know, “toileting areas.” Garbage cans! Shaded tables!
