4J+1+1 RV Park

October 15, 2013  |  Colorado

In anticipation of some really cold overnight temps and multiple days of cloudy weather we decided to plug in. We considered Ridgway State Park (which is beautiful) but figured if we’re going to pay for camping, we wanted full hookups.

I have been wanting to go to Ouray Colorado after seeing a bunch of other bloggers post about it:

- Watsons Wander
- Riveted
- To Simplify

We chose 4J because of Amanda’s post where she describes the rushing river sounds and walking into town from the campground.

4J actually closes for the season tomorrow, so it’s pretty empty and the owner is letting us stay until Saturday.

Dinner Last Night:
We had a late dinner last night because we had to drive to Montrose after work to pick up a UPS delivery and to get some groceries. I wasn’t expecting to cook anything elaborate when we got home, maybe just some veggies, and dip. This Kale/Basil Pesto turned out to be so good I had to cook up a little pasta and toss it with cherry tomatoes.

2013 Cost of Camping:
110 nights paid camping (through Saturday 10/19)
182 nights free camping
292 days this year
Total spent on camping this year: $3,096.29
Daily average cost of camping: $10.60

  1. Have you driven down to Durango on the 550? The drive takes you through Silverton… and its gorgeous….

    • We haven’t, though I’d really like to. Unfortunately, we’re tied to the computers during the day. We aren’t 100% set on our exit plan yet, though it was looking like we were going to head out through the north.
