On the drive back from the Sonora Desert Museum we stopped by Gilbert Ray to check out the facilities. It’s a nice looking campground that’s somewhat remote and both our phones had service. We would definitely camp here in the future.
Gilbert Ray Campground is located west of Kinney Road in Tucson Mountain Park.

The campground is very nice. We were there three years ago (http://www.casarodante.org/2009/04/14/arizona-part-ii/), electric only but that is better than no hookups.
We had to stay there because the carport spot at our mutual friends was previously booked. I didn’t know we had to reserve that carport so FAR in advance! (Say hi to RE&E for us)
