6 Year Anniversary

May 19, 2014  |  Oregon

This year we’re spending our wedding anniversary at Emigrant Lake in Ashland Oregon.

I booked the coveted site #21 in August of last year, knowing that we’d be back in the area for a family reunion over Memorial Weekend. Site #21 has the biggest “front yard” and a fantastic view of the lake. The site is so big, Brian had to go out and buy a longer fresh water hose.

The traditional gift for a 6 year Wedding Anniversary is iron. Not sure what that would translate into. A cast iron skillet or a wrought iron fence? Iron vitamins? Any ideas?

2014 Cost of Camping:

53 night paid camping
92 nights free camping
145 days this year
Total spent on camping this year: $1610
Daily average cost of camping: $11.10

  1. Santa Barbara Mary & David

    Happy Anniversary, you handsome couple!
    Beautiful setting, too.
As for ‘iron,’ when’s the Aluminum anniversary year?

    • Santa Barbara Mary & David

Aluminum is the 10th, and btw candy is also a gift for the 6th anniversary. Enjoy!

      • Thanks you guys! Yes, I saw that candy is the modern 6 year gift. We do have a dark chocolate Justin’s Peanut Butter Cup on board. My favorite.

  2. Happy Anniversary you two!

  3. That IS a great site. Happy Anniversary!
I found the perfect gift for you to give Brian.

    • When I first saw the comment, I would have sworn it was from Jim. You’re hilarious – that’s so disgusting!!!

  4. The Iron Throne from Game of ….
but I also really like the candy suggestion.

  5. You guys simply aren’t leading a cutting edge lifestyle. Now take this guy, he is married, engaged and dating. See you can have it all.

This is the idea I am giving you for your anniversary.

  6. Happy Anniversary to you both! You sure picked a beautiful spot to spend the week. Enjoy :)

  7. Happy Anniversary! Wishing you many more wonderful years together:)

  8. Happy Anniversary! And here is to many more.

  9. Happy Anniversary to the most beautiful and well matched couple!

  10. Congratulations on the anniversary!

Your site brings back fond memories. We found Emigrant by accident at the end of a two week venture in or brand new fifth wheel in 2003. We liked it so much we extended our trip a few days-which is one of the things I love about RV travel. You can be so much more flexible.

  11. For my wife and I’s 6 year anniversary, we were strapped for cash, and 6 years is iron/candy, so I got her a cupcake with the periodic table element for iron on top. She appreciated it since she is also a science teacher!

  12. Happy Anniversary and what a beautiful place to spend it! As for the gifting, cast-iron skillets are always a good bet but dark chocolate will most likely always win the day. :)
