Fremont-Winema National Forest

May 25, 2013  |  Oregon

Yesterday after work we drove 3 hours north to Fremont-Winema National Forest and stayed at the Sunset Campground.

According to the campground map, our site was right on the water, but it actually had a short walking path to the lake and a view of Brown Mountain pictured above.

No hookups cost us $17.50 for the one night. AT&T has 3 bars of extended service and Verizon had 5 bars of 3G with the booster, but it’s still a little too slow to work on.

Dinner Last Night:
We had frozen pizza and roasted asparagus, as planned (before I started the plant based diet books).

2013 Cost of Camping:
39 nights paid camping
105 nights free camping
144 days this year
Total spent on camping this year: $739.08
Daily average cost of camping: $5.13

  1. Did you make the pizza and freeze it? Or did you cheat? I made spaghetti and Jojo said it was the best sauce she ever had! Score one for me. By the way, it was not on my “planned” menu lol. She said she wanted spaghetti she got spaghetti! I even had all ingredients.

  2. Such a pretty picture with the mountain in the background and clouds reflected in the water. I could sit and look at that for a very long time!

  3. Ray says he was almost moved to comment …..the photo is so wonderful….

  4. My friend, Cheryl, told me to skeedaddle over here to check you guys out. Love plant-strong RVers!
