Painted Rock Petroglyph

January 27, 2013  |  Arizona, camping

Yesterday we drove 2 and a half hours east to the Painted Rock Petroglyphs. An “ancient archaeological site containing hundreds of symbolic and artistic rock etchings, or “petroglyphs,” produced centuries ago by prehistoric peoples.” – Bureau of Land Management

There is a developed campground at the Painted Rocks that costs 8 whole dollars. It’s still dry camping, and it was actually pretty busy. I have to say we’ve become a little spoiled by our recent locations where there aren’t too many RV’s in sight.

Dinner Last Night:
Sweet Potato Black Bean Enchiladas. I’ve been wanting to make these for awhile. I especially loved the chile verde sauce.

2013 Cost of Camping:
6 nights paid camping
20 nights free camping
Total spent on camping this year: $183.04
Daily average cost of camping: $7.04
