Grand Teton Boondocking

I had found a few boondocking locations around Grand Teton National Park, but it’s always nice to get a personal recommendation. Last week when we met “Van Tramp” Tim, he told us about this awesome spot with views of the Tetons.

In addition to the million dollar view, we’re getting both Verizon (3G) and AT&T (4G) AND a few HD TV stations! We debated staying the max limit here (16 days) but instead we’re going to stay just one extra day and do our drive to Deadwood in 2 vs. 3 days.

Dinner Last Night:
I had a few artichokes that need to be eaten, so I boiled them up and served them with Creamy Vegan Dipping Sauce. I only used 1 teaspoon of Sriracha and for the curry powder, I used the Maharajah Style Curry Powder that my mom just sent to me. It was great.

2013 Cost of Camping:
86 nights paid camping
170 nights free camping
256 days this year
Total spent on camping this year: $2,322.22
Daily average cost of camping: $9.07

You might want to walk it first…we aren’t sure if you can make the turn at the end. Let me know!

I have really enjoyed your site for the past 6 months. Will be traveling through The Tetons this September. Can you give me more info on your boon docking sight there? I have a 31 ft Airstream.

    Thanks.

When in September will you be there? We’re arriving on 9/13 and plan to stay for 2 weeks.

A 31 foot Airstream would be fine there, though I do suggest scouting the area on foot first. When you drive up the forest road your GPS might direct you to take the first left (at that point hop out and have a walk-thru) you might be happier if you continue straight and then take the second left.

Hope to leave Portland on September 5th and spend just a few days getting over to that area. I will keep a look out for you two. Would love to meet up. Will be moving into my Airstream full-time late this year for a multiyear adventure. Just retired last month!

Congratulations! It sounds like you’ll be there before us, make sure no one else gets the good spot!
