Dirty Dawgs

One of our chores on Saturday included getting Curtis clean. We took him to a self-service dog wash called Dirty Dawgs. The owner was very friendly and helpful. First she gave Curtis some sweet talk and pets then took us over to the bath station where we picked out some tea tree shampoo and convinced him to go up the ramp into the bath tub. After the bath we went to the dry station (pictured above) where the owner talked to us about brushes. I told her we’ve tried all kinds of brushes, and Curtis has NEVER liked being brushed, he would run and hide under a table like I was torturing him. Well she suggested we try the JW Shedding Blade Dog Brush and it worked great and C seemed ok with it, but he was tethered to the wall so I couldn’t be sure. What he REALLY hated was the blow dryer. If we turned it on high he would tremble so much his teeth rattled. So we dried him on low.

The wash was $15, and we ended up buying a new collar and the dog brush. Yesterday I tried it on Curtis expecting him to run away, but instead he rolled on his back and gave me his tummy!

Lu hates the dryer too. When the folks at the PetWash see us coming, they just hand me extra towels. Maybe we should invent a quieter dog dryer?

Yes! C also freaks out over the vacuum. I’m surprised there aren’t quieter hair dryers and vacuums, have you heard the new quiet diesel engines?
