Poker Report

June 13, 2014  |  poker

I have a memory of my Grandmother Catherine telling me that she used to call poker “daisies,” which would make this photo relevant to this post.

Last night Brian and I finally sat down to play some poker at the casino who’s parking lot we currently call home. The stakes weren’t very exciting, $20 buy-in, 1500 in chips, no re-buys or add-ons and only 2 tables.

On our walk over, we discussed how it was going to be a crap-shoot from the start. Even in the first blind round a standard raise would be 10% of your stack. Needless to say, I busted out immediately and “walked home.”

Two and a half hours passed and I hadn’t heard from Brian. I figured it must be down to the final few players, so I walked back over and discovered him at the cash game. He went out in 6th place and ended up making more than 1st place money in the cash game.

Dinner Last Night:
Cauliflower and Cashew Cream Soup. This was delicious. Since the shallots and scallions are more “warmed” than cooked, I might use less next time.

2014 Cost of Camping:
64 night paid camping
98 nights free camping
162 days this year
Total spent on camping this year: $1900
Daily average cost of camping: $11.73

  1. How did you not go straight to the cash table and clean that out before he even thought of getting there…?

  2. Congratulations Brian!
