Alumafiesta – Day 1

Our reporting on Alumafiesta is going to be rather limited since we have to work during the day and will be missing the majority of the activities. Though don’t worry, we will be joining in on happy hour festivities.

Yesterday kicked off with a catered happy hour and welcome reception. After that, we ran around and took more photos to add to our Alumafiesta Photo Gallery. Then we heated up dinner and brought it with us to our friend Bert‘s photo presentation.

In all this running around and talking to people, two notes I’m saving are:

– We should check out Cherry Hill Park for close RV camping to Washington DC.
– Airventure in Oshkosh WI is an incredible event and has a huge Airstream attendance.

Dinner Last Night:
Spiced Red Lentil, Tomato, and Kale Soup and leftover kale & cabbage salad. As I add this recipe to the post I see that in all my running around last night I forgot to add kale to the soup! It was still REALLY good, and it was my first time (I think) having red lentils. It’s a keeper.

2013 Cost of Camping:
Through Sunday Feb 10:
13 nights paid camping
27 nights free camping
Total spent on camping this year: $400.25
Daily average cost of camping: $10.01

Love the photos. Coincidently, Kelly and I met your neighbors Shirley & Johnny earlier this summer while they were attending a NorCal WBCCI regional event hosted in our RV park in HMB. During “bingo night” we sat next to them and they were cracking Kelly and me up all night. I think Johnny may have won a pair of socks…

You will find Cherry Hill Campground to be a 5 star campground. Shuttle takes you to the subways that take you right into DC. Check out their website book early as they tend to fill up throughout the warm months. Happy travels
