On Sunday we woke up before dawn and went looking for wildlife with Brenda and Hector.
We didn’t see much, though I did take my favorite shot, which was of this American white pelican we saw at Oxbow Bend.
At the end of the day, we ventured back out, this time looking for bear, or maybe looking for trouble.
Instead, we stopped and took photos of this bison herd by the side of the road.
We finally saw a moose at the Gros Ventre Campground, but the angle with the best light was of his backside. Unfortunately, the best I got was this spotty photo.
As we were heading home, this fox appeared. I don’t know if I could have done better if I had time to adjust my camera settings, but at least we got proof!

Splendid. I agree, that pelican shot is breath-taking!
Gros Venture Campground must be a popular spot for the moose as we had four at our site about this time last year.
Hey you guys – that campground is really reliable for moose. If we didn’t have our boondocking spot, that’s where we’d stay.
Thanks Karen! xo
That pelican shot is amazing. Really nice.
Thank you! I got lucky it happened pretty fast.
Great photos, Leigh! Love that pelican shot.
Thanks Jeanne!
Beautiful shot..I know what you mean about the ‘backside’…seems like that is what I get very often. We are headed to Gros Vente on Saturday. Will cross my fingers for moose and “you”.
