5 Year Anniversary

Five years ago today, we eloped in Telluride Colorado.

In the state of Colorado, you don’t need an officiant. So May 19, 2008 we went to the courthouse and paid $10 for a marriage license and then went on a hike near Bridal Veil Falls looking for the perfect spot to make proclamations and have a photo opp.

Even though there was snow on the ground, it was really warm out. We ended up going off trail and finally found a spot with a view of the falls. We said some magic words, signed the papers and then brought them back to the courthouse. We were married.

Today we’re celebrating on Eagle Lake in California.

Dinner Last Night:
Shrimp Jambalaya. The original recipe also contains chicken and kielbasa. I haven’t made it since before Brian and I got together. It’s still good, but I think the other meat really makes it.

2013 Cost of Camping:
38 nights paid camping
100 nights free camping
138 days this year
Total spent on camping this year: $721.58
Daily average cost of camping: $5.23

Congratulations!! You know you’re meant for each other if you can live in an RV for any length of time and still like being together.

Great dinner idea!! I have chicken, shrimp, and andouille sausage…should work wonderfully!!

Man, here we were thinking we won the prize for “cheapest wedding ever” at $40 for the license + $50 for the judge’s officiant fee!

You probably still win cheapest wedding if you include hotel room that night!

It was the most I’ve ever paid but worth every penny:

mazel tov! from two people who eloped 40 years ago–April 10th, in Honolulu. And as Mary said: if you can make it “full-timing” these five years, then you can make it forever.
