Flowing Lake County Park

Flowing Lake is the 4th Seattle area campground we’ve tried. It’s actually quite far north of Seattle, but it’s where we had the trailer while we stayed in a hotel downtown this week.

We’ve tried the KOA closest to the Airport when I had to fly out of town for work. It left nothing to be desired and we’ve never returned.

We stayed at Tall Chief, east of the city. It was much nicer than the KOA, but again not worth a return visit.

Lake Pleasant in Bothell was our favorite until one time when we didn’t get a spot on the lake and suddenly it felt too expensive for what you got.

Then we discovered Flowing Lake County Park. It’s a bit more north, but since our Seattle time included a hotel, we didn’t mind making the drive. The park is PACKED full of families, but the spaces are so far apart that it’s quite peaceful in our spot.

2014 Cost of Camping:
5 nights for $148.03 thru Friday 7/18
97 night paid camping
101 nights free camping
198 days this year
Total spent on camping this year: $2899.79
Daily average cost of camping: $14.65

There is a TT trails in Monroe which is fairly nice, especially if you can get the river side (no sewer though). And my secret little gem is the American Legion Park on the Snohomish-Machias Road (cross street is Three Lakes Rd). It is not advertised, but you can stop in and ask. I think there are only 5 or 6 spots, on the river. Only draw back is that the park (pavilion area) is often rented out on weekends for weddings and family reunions, etc. We stayed there for six months and loved it. There is a little road noise, but the convenience is so worth it. They used to have free washer and dryers…maybe still do. You can call the American Legion Hall in Snohomish for more info. If Diane is still there, she is the one you’d want to talk to.

If you are still at Flowing Lake, if you just drive west on Three Lakes abroad, you will see it on the right just before you cross the Centenniel Trail. The drives east on Hwy 2 and Hwy 20 are both beautiful. I pray the rain that is predicted for the weekend will assist in drowning these wildfires.

Howdy! I don’t know how much longer you will be in the Seattle area, but we will be heading that way in the next two weeks. Hope we can catch up to you sometime!

We are right near Glacier and stuck (due to a nail in the tire) here for the next week at least. Are you coming this way?

We’re staying put in southern WA for a month, waiting out the fires to see if we can go up to our property at the end of August. If you find yourself near Benton City let me know!

Too bad you’re in the hot city while the Airstream is enjoying all that cool shade!
