Groundhog Day

The last few days have felt like the movie Groundhog Day. Wake up, eat Zucchini Banana Bread, work, find a free campground with a lake, watch Modern Family season 3, go to sleep.

Yes, we found another free campground with a lake yesterday. Not too far from our place and not down a long drive on a rural road. Lyman Lake is my favorite we’ve seen in the area for access and isolation. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have cell service.

Dinner Last Night:
Over The Rainbow Cabbage Salad with Tahini-Lemon Dressing and a side of black quinoa.

When I was making my menu for the week I noticed that we had all of these ingredients left over from last week. We’ve had this dressing a zillion times before so I knew it would be a good easy meal. After dinner I tossed the quinoa in the salad for left-overs.

Thanks for all the great tips on lakes in WA. Which ones look like good swimming lakes for dogs and people? Inquiring minds want to know….

I’d say Lost Lake is your best bet for swimming, though no dogs are allowed in that one. Curtie went in Blair Lake, which is pretty close to Lost. Planning a trip?

Hope to…not sure when … Every time I see lakes like the ones you’ve been featuring, it makes me miss those Northern Wisconsin lakes I swam in as a kid.

Hi guys, just came across your blog, great work! Some of these spots look awesome. Any problems maneuvering your Airstream into this campsite?

Hi Rob, we didn’t actually camp here – we were just researching the area. We wouldn’t have a problem here, and neither would a motorhome. One of the spots was a pull-thru. Two thumbs up for access.

Hey Rob – Leigh was talking about Lyman Lake in her response, it does have 1 pull-thru site that could accommodate a large-ish RV or trailer. A few of the FS campgrounds in the area have spots that we could squeeze the 27′ into, but I don’t think I’d try anything bigger. How big is your trailer? Are you planning on visiting the Okanogan soon?

            Hi Brian,
We have a 25′ Airstream and will be heading through for a night at the end of next week. We will be enroute back to Canada after a quick trip to the Oregon coast. It depends on timing if we stop for the night on the US or Canada side of the border… It looks like you guys have a great little spot there, away from the crowds…

            Thanks,

            Rob.
