Podcasts & Bird Watching

On drive days we usually listen to podcasts. Our regular programs include This American Life, Ted Radio Hour and Season 2 of Serial.

I was going to share this fantastic link once we made it through the list, and tell you our favorites, but with 40 to go, I figured that was kind of selfish.

The 50 Best Podcast Episodes of 2015

We’ve listened to the first 9 on the list, and the eleventh. We skipped #10 due to the amount of time we had left to drive. Number 2, β€œNew York After Rent” didn’t hold our interest. The rest of the programs were great and made our past few drive days zip by.

Please share any podcasts or single podcast episodes that you think we’ll like! Thank you!

Oh and check out this bird I saw!

I listen the three you mentioned plus Hidden Brain, Radio Lab, Freakonomics Radio, Snap Judgment, The Moth, Splendid Table, and Fresh Air if she’s interviewing someone that interests me.

We love Terry Gross! For some reason I haven’t thought to look for her podcasts. Thanks for reminding me to look up Fresh Air! I’ve heard a few episodes of some of the others you’ve mention, I’ll have to revisit those and check out Snap Judgement (that one is new to me). Thanks Amanda. πŸ™‚

My new favorite podcast is “The Minimalists”. They are new to podcasting and I have really enjoyed their message. I think you will probably relate!

Totally with you on podcast listening for driving days. The hours and miles fly by when Kate and I are absorbed in something interesting as we trundle down the freeway. We’ll have to check out some of that top 50 to find new favorites. As former Brits there’s one from the BBC we enjoyed called More or Less which, to quote their blurb “debunks – the numbers and statistics used in political debate, the news and everyday life”. It’s always thought provoking and definitely worth a listen.

I often listen to podcasts while I run. Some others I would recommend include Radiolab (for sure!); Death, Sex, and Money; Strangers; Reply All; The Moth; Criminal.

It’s a quiz show type of podcast but it is entertaining.
