Thumb Butte Trail

It’s been 6 days since I last blogged which is probably a record for me. It’s mostly because I’m holed up in the Airstream working while Brian is out shooting campgrounds.

Yesterday we went on a 2 mile hike on the Thumb Butte Trail in Prescott, AZ. The hike is a loop, so you can go clockwise or counterclockwise.

paved

We went clockwise. The first half of the trail was paved and the assent was pretty steep. Some hikers passing us on their way down commented that we were “brave.” Uninformed perhaps, but not brave.

dirt

The descent was a gradual dirt trail. Overall, we enjoyed the walk including the benches along the way.

break

Dinner Last Night:
Spring Farro Salad with Roasted Garlic Vinaigrette. We’re back in the land of good grocery stores. Fresh peas, asparagus and shiitake mushrooms. This was really good.

2015 Cost of Camping:
57 night paid camping
52 nights free camping
109 days this year
Total spent: $771
Daily average cost: $7.07

Good to see hitting the trails again:) Don’t forget to check out the lakes and hike a little in the Granite Dells. The rocks are very cool! We really enjoyed Prescott. I was surprised to find all types of stores, even a TJ’s!! Have fun:)

The recipe sounds wonderful!! I love anything with farro!

I think we’re going to the Granite Dells after work on Friday!

Can we assume this hike will wind up in Campendium. Or does it not include hikes. Maybe it should/could?

Hi Ed, we aren’t including hiking trails on Campendium, though love it when people mention what they did in the area where they camped. 🙂

Hey you’re in our back yard! We just returned to Prescott yesterday after a few weeks in the Chiricahuas. Will you be around for the Whiskey Row Off Road?? Fun event, and great photo ops!

Looks cool! That’s good to know about, I’m wondering how the crowds will impact our Friday night plans! We’re leaving Saturday, so I don’t think we’ll see any of the actual race.

Friday is the kick off for the race. 3 p.m. they’ll be doing the first race starting on the row. It will be busy in town for a bit with that first ride. Saturday and Sunday are the bigger events. But yeah, if you’re doing something in town it might impact parking for a few hours.
