North Rim Dispersed Camping

When we first arrived at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, we had a fantastic boondocking spot with a view, but it was a shared spot.

airstream-view
The next day we moved to the site next door which was totally private and had little chance of someone joining us. Both sites can be found on Forest Road 611 – East Rim.

trail
A mile or two toward the main highway is a trailhead, (there isn’t a sign with a name or a map). We took the trail from the parking lot to the rim then turned right and walked for about 30 minutes.

aspen
It’s my kind of trail, no real climb and scenic. It led us through thick aspen grove.

view
Back at our campsite, we couldn’t get enough of the view.

curtis
Neither could Curtis.

PS: A big thank you to Good Luck Duck for scouting out Forest Road 611 and blogging about it.

Dinner Last Night:
Spinach Basil Pesto over spinach linguini topped with heirloom tomatoes and parmesan cheeze. The pesto didn’t really need 1/4 cup of olive oil. I would cut back on that next time.

2015 Cost of Camping:
86 night paid camping
91 nights free camping
177 days this year
Total spent: $1593.31
Daily average cost: $9.00
