Rincon Parkway – Ventura, CA

Yesterday we drove about an hour North West to Ventura. Rincon Parkway is a first come first serve county park on Highway 1. Out of the 127 spots, there were 3 available when we arrived, including what might be the very best spot at the end of the row which meant we didn’t have to try and parallel park the trailer and we only have one neighbor on one side.

The days of free camping are over for awhile, this week is costing us $28/night + $1/night for Curtis (2 dog max) = $203.

Check out: google street view

Dinner Last Night:
Polenta Stuffed Chiles Rellenos with Mushroom Hash. This is a really clever and tasty recipe. I only made 1 cup of polenta and had a lot left over. You could probably get away with making 1/2 cup (dry). Next time I’ll serve it with beans.

2014 Cost of Camping:
**Through Saturday 4/5**
10 night paid camping
84 nights free camping
94 days this year
Total spent on camping this year: $305
Daily average cost of camping: $3.24

Super cool. Is the beach out front dog friendly?

Yes! We’ve seen dogs playing off leash. We haven’t taken Curtis down there since he just got a bath!

I did see you Airstream today parked in the best space on the Rincon. Thought about knocking buy didn’t feel right doing so.
I live in Ojai about 20 miles away. When I saw the photo of your site last night I thought it might be the Rincon so I drove by this pm.
How long are you staying? I would enjoy spending a short time gathering some info from you.

I am a seventy year old who bought a Flying Cloud with everything plus last year So far I have spent time in Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and Cali.

I spent thirty plus years flying back and forth across the US and now I do as much Airstream time as possible.

I worked for and still consult for Patagonia.

Give me a call if you have a minute and I’ll show you around.

Hi Peter! Thanks for the message, we’ll call you later this morning!

Major Apple, parallels, Windows and Quicken crash. Wiil call you in the am to see if you are still around. If not I hope we will cross paths in the near future. I want to steal a list of your Not so special boondocking sites. I leave the top ones to yourselves.

Not sure I told you but I used to live about 1/4 mile from where you are camped. Moved to Ojai to get away from the fog.

I’d call but I’m hooked up to a Parallels guy as I have for the last three hours and will be for who knows how much longer. But the guy knows what they are doing and is not trying to cut me off.

Hope your time here has been well spent.

I sent you a message but may not have written it in the proper place.
The reason I haven’t called is I had a major computer dump.
Hope you are here Friday when I can call.
