Crested Butte Boondocking

When the Watsons posted about the Wildflowers in Crested Butte, I immediately put it on our itinerary for the same time of year the following year.

Our spot on Washington Gulch Road is as magical as we hoped, and we also have great neighbors! (More on them later).

Crested Butte is the wildflower capital of Colorado, and this week also happens to be Wildflower Festival. Crested Butte in July, mark your calendars!

Pictured are just a few from our walk this morning.

2015 Cost of Camping:
87 night paid camping
104 nights free camping
188 days this year
Total spent: $1600.81
Daily average cost: $8.51

The flowers look great! I think we missed the festival by a week last year, but it didn’t matter because they were everywhere! So happy you are enjoying this special spot 🙂

It’s a really special spot. From our campsite, you’d have no idea it’s totally nuts in town because of the festival!

Ah, one of my favorite places. The wildflowers take the scenery over the top. That first photo is a stunner.

Lucky you….CB is one of my favorites also. When I hiked the W. Maroon Pass trail..the wildflowers were up to my shoulders…and it was more than amazing. Thinking that with this wet season we have had…they are popping like crazy now. Your photos are beautiful….enjoy and soak in all the beauty of Colorado. Explore….explore!

Thanks Janel! I think we’ll finally get a chance to hike on Saturday – weather permitting. 🙂
