Cheboygan State Park

Cheboygan State Park is one of my favorite parks we’ve stayed at in Michigan next to the Rivermouth Campground at Tahquamenon Falls State Park.

trail
In addition to having a nice private site with a little lake view, my primary reason for loving this campground is this trail.

light-house
We’ve been walking a mile and a half on it every morning, though this past Sunday we continued past our cut-off and saw these light house ruins. The light house was built in 1851 and washed away by high waters in 1859.

frogs
Past the light house, on the beach are a ton of shiny frogs (and an easy to find geocache).

Dinner Last Night:
Acorn Squash Salad with Hemp Seed Dressing. This dressing is a nice alternative to the tahini-based dressings that we regularly have.

2016 Cost of Camping:
26 nights free camping
213 nights paid camping
239 days this year thru 8/27
Total spent on camping this year: $5849.58
Daily average cost of camping: $24.48

This looks wonderful! It’s only an hour from where we live and yet I’d have never thought to go there, for whatever reason.

I don’t think it’ll be in the cards for us to go there this year, but maybe next!

Hi Jenny, it’s a great State Park. Might be worth a visit next year!

Love how you track the stats on the cost of camping for the year, etc. As part-time travelers it was eye opening for us to travel a few months last year for the first time in our rv and realize how much certain expenses actually went down….. and had the time of our lives while doing it. Certain utilities, consumption, entertainment expenses went way down.
