Government Wash Improved

This is our 5th time we’ve stayed at Government Wash at Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

The first two times we trekked across the bumpy terrain to camp close to the water in Februrary and October 2013. In March and November 2014, we stayed in spots that were easier to access because we were camping with friends but also closer to other rigs and litter.

The last two times we didn’t love it as much because of the trash and number of people. When we arrived this past weekend, we were surprised to discover that there weren’t many people here and was much cleaner than last year.

The ranger came by to take our license plate number and said that they’ve been enforcing the 15 day stay limit. It shows, and we love it.

The morning and evening colors have been incredible.

2015 Cost of Camping
157 night paid camping
180 nights free camping
337 days this year
Total spent: $3708.53
Daily average cost: $11.00
