We met up with Marshall mid month at Gold Canyon Dispersed just outside of Carson City. The camping was just ok, but it was close to anything we might need and we were in good company.
The Watsons showed up for a few nights and took us on a hike with no trail to the top of a mountain. We had a good time catching up with them. It’s hard to believe how long it’s been since we’ve done a #watsonswanderhikes.
Our next stop was Twenty Mile Beach in Hawthorne, Nevada. The spot was beautiful, however, big houseflies and swarms of sandflies drove us away after two nights.
Then there was Tonopah. We rarely tow to a new location mid-week, but we did it twice this week. First to get away from the flies, then to escape the cold. The elevation at Tonopah Dispersed is over 6,000, so after just one night, we hit the road again.

Looking forward to seeing you two!!! Let us know when you get to town.
Hi Pam! Me too! I’ll send you an email to make plans.
Wow…a beautiful reminder of the meaning of “wide open spaces”. In today’s world of traffic and congestion it is wonderful to see these sights! Something to refer to while sitting in traffic on 217 )-; Fun to see your adventures. Hugs to you both!
In Tonopah, were you camping next to the airport? We plan to swing by there in a week and stay one night on our way to south Nevada.
Hi! We didn’t notice an airport during our stay, but I just googled it and it looks to be 12 minutes away. We stayed at the dispersed camping next to the BLM office: https://www.campendium.com/tonopah-dispersed
Thanks!
