Wauconda RV & Campground

Since we were expecting 3 more days of grey skies, and our spot at Toats Coulee Camp wasn’t perfectly level, we decided to go plug-in at Wauconda RV & Campground (the RV park for sale that we had posted about earlier).

There was a little bit of road noise during the day, that’s Highway 20 behind Curtis in the picture above. He loved the lush green grass, ideal for playing ball.

It was good to be able to run the heat pump and fans and get rid of some of the moisture.

If we hadn’t actually talked to the owner, we would never have stayed there. There isn’t any indication that it’s open for business. There aren’t any signs explaining how to pay and the owner didn’t show up until after we had been there 6 hours, at which point we gave him $20 for the night.

It’s obvious the owner isn’t trying to promote the campground, Brian looked down the sewer pipe when he hooked us up and he said it looked like it had never been used.

Dinner Last Night:
Israeli Couscous Salad. I didn’t have fresh mint and I skipped the cheese. I almost scrapped using this recipe entirely because I hate making too much dressing for something, but ended up figuring that I’ll use the rest later this week. I added black olives and would have added cucumber if I had some. Served with a dash of dried mint.

2013 Cost of Camping:
52 nights paid camping
122 nights free camping
175 days this year
Total spent on camping this year: $1,109.08
Daily average cost of camping: $6.34
