    May

We continued our streak of boondocking in solitude at Rocky Point East in Susanville, CA. From there, we moved on to Hagelstein Park just north of Klammath Falls. I have never had such an amazing wildlife experience coupled with such a sense of unease. I actually called the sheriff one afternoon for a domestic disturbance in a nearby tent. Meanwhile, the view was amazing. All of the photos below were taken from my chair inside the trailer. The muskrats went back and forth all day long across the waterway. One evening we watched 6 of them get into a squabble. In addition to this snake, I also saw a turtle,…

    April

After Vegas, we had a week to kill before an appointment in Los Angeles, so we tried out another new spot (for us) in Mojave National Preserve. Unfortunately, we had to leave after only four days because the NOAA Weather App alerted us to extremely high winds. Otherwise, it was a fantastic spot and we didn’t see anyone at all during our stay. We finally started heading north for the summer after a week in Los Angeles. First stop was Fossil Falls Dry Lake Bed. This was another isolated spot where we saw only one other RV for a couple days in the distance. There was a herd of sheep…

    March

After two months of socializing, we spent all of March hiding out. We both got colds in February, which led to poor Brian getting shingles in March. Meanwhile, I had developed a racing heart overnight every night, so we spent most of the month in Vegas so we could go to doctors. I had two doctors prescribe me anti-anxiety meds which I wasn’t happy about because I felt there was a bigger issue at hand. After a lot of online searches and some prunes in a port wine syrup, I finally figured out that it’s blood sugar related. My sugar intake usually consists of fruit, gluten free bread and white…

    February

We spent the first two weeks of February camping at American Girl Mine Road, which is a great place to stay if you want to take a day trip to Algodones Mexico like we did with Brandon & Kerensa and Aaron. We spent the entire month camping with Aaron and Amanda who weren’t always wearing their Campendium shirts but sure look good in them. The Malimish family stopped by at J-Tree in January, and then again at AGM in February. It’s always good to see their faces. Later in the month we camped in one of our new favorite places. Well, we’ve always loved dispersed camping in the Mojave National…

    January

I haven’t blogged since January because I’ve been so busy with work, that when I’m not working, the last thing I want to do is look at the computer. I even stopped looking at Facebook, which has been really refreshing, though I have felt a little disconnected, so I may start checking in some on weekends. Anyway. Brian and I just got back from a much needed vacation and are feeling refreshed, so I thought I’d do a series of posts with some of my favorite pics from the past five months. We kicked off the New Year with some of our very favorite people and pets. Tiff and Deke…

    New Years in the Desert

I honestly thought I did this post already. We’ve been busy working and socializing and working and socializing, so the blog ball dropped shortly after the one in Times Square. Oops! Over-run with off road vehicles at Cougar Buttes Dispersed, we decided to move to Silurian Dry Lake Bed with Dave and Kelly. We met up with our good friends Heather and Jeff who had previously scouted this spot and confirmed it would be a good place to avoid the holiday crowds. We were all relieved to see Tim and Kerri arrived after a close call with a fire in their engine. New Years Eve was an early night for…

    Last Week of 2017

On Christmas Eve, we left Burbank and moved over to Cougar Buttes Dispersed Camping in Johnson Valley OHV Area. We were joined by our dear friends Kelly & Dave who we hadn’t seen in two years. As full-time RVers, we usually don’t have campfires, but for some reason this week we enjoyed them almost every night. Even though I had time off from work, I found myself working every day this week. Finally on Thursday, I insisted we relax, so Brian and I had a “spa afternoon” in the trailer. By Thursday evening, hundreds of RVs rolled in for the long weekend and our camp turned into a dustbowl, so…

    TOP 10 CAMPGROUNDS OF 2017

Looking back on our favorite campgrounds this year, I can’t help but think of all of the driveways we stayed in and how they were some of our favorite stops as we made our way across the country. Obviously, those driveways are limited to friends and family, so instead of listing out our favorite moochdocking spots for the year, below is a list of our favorite campsites and campgrounds we stayed at in 2017. 10. West Branch State Park – Ravenna, OH We had a private site that backed up on the water at West Branch State Park. Brian lost a quarter in the laundry and they mailed us a…

    Back in LA

We just spent two weeks in Los Angeles, and for our first visit with friends, we met up with Tiffani and Deke. Last time we saw them, was a little over a year ago right before they moved west. For our first week in LA, we stayed at Dockweiler RV Park which is right on the beach. My cousin Whit came to visit us there and again when we moved over to Burbank. Over in Burbank, our friend Ryan used our trailer for a photoshoot. We attended a couple Christmas parties and were happy we got to see Brian’s sister Alison and long time family friend Marielle. We also saw…
