True Food – Phoenix

A few people have recommended that we should check out Dr. Weil’s True Food restaurant while we were in Phoenix.

So last Saturday when we met a local couple camping at Usery, we invited them to join us for dinner.

Kathryn is a writer and Steve is a teacher. It was surprising to learn that both Steve and Brian studied Cultural Anthropology in college and Middle East Studies in graduate school.

Anyway, the food was pretty good (on par with what I cook at home), and we had a good time getting to know a couple Phoenix locals.

Thanks for the report. Based on how good the recipes are that you cook at home, your assessment is solid praise indeed. 🙂

That said, doesn’t exactly sound like it wowed you…sounds like the difference between our friendly neighborhood vegan place vs the fancy dancy raw food place that amazes…

Hi Tom, you’re right, we weren’t wowed, but it’s fine for a neighborhood restaurant. True Food is actually not vegan or vegetarian – it’s just V and Veg friendly.

Sorry our trip to Gilbert Ray has been so hurried, but I had lots I was trying to accomplish. We’re returning now to Borrego to see Janie’s brother and attend the Tony Feather concert. That takes us to next week and from there we don’t yet have any firm plans. Let’s stay in touch. Always enjoy your postings and seeing some of the interesting folks your meeting. And your food posts make my mouth water. Cheers
