Free Camping South of Vegas

We needed a spot to camp during the government shut down and figured that our usual spot at Lake Mead would either be closed or over-run with garbage, so we checked out Jean Roach Dry Lake Bed off of Las Vegas Boulevard.

It’s an enormous space, and the only other campers during our stay were really far away.

The “Seven Magic Mountains” are close by and attract quite a crowd.

2019 Cost of Camping:
49 nights free camping
14 nights paid camping
63 days this year
Total spent on camping this year: $250
Daily average cost of camping: $4

If you are still in this place, make sure you check out the Petroglyph Trail in Sloan Canyon just up the road. The entrance to this trail is on the west side of Sloan Canyon closer to you. There are hundreds of petroglyphs. Very neat hike.
Hope you are both doing well:)

Hi Pam! I’m a little behind, that was in January! We’ll have to check that out next time we’re in the area. 🙂
