    Kale Smoothies

Sunday morning, Ryan made us his new favorite smoothie recipe. 1 apple 1 pear 1 celery stick 1 small persian cucumber a handful of kale 2 cups of ice 2 cups of apple juice Makes 2 smoothies. I thought he could have added more kale, but wanted to try his original recipe. It was delicious and refreshing. We usually have bananas in ours, so the apple/pear combo was a nice change.

    Green Smoothies

Yesterday Brian and I were feeling sleepy in the afternoon but didn’t want to take a nap because we already had too much sleep the night before. Looking for a pick-me-up after we finished grocery shopping, we tried a couple of the green smoothies at Whole Foods. Sorry the picture above is kind of blurry, I didn’t want to get caught taking it but wanted to get a list of the ingredients in their smoothies. Brian had the Peachy Green Refresher with spinach, celery, frozen peaches, agave and coconut water. I had the Hawaiian Tropical with spinach, pineapple, mango, banana and coconut water. They both were delicious. So much so…

    Parsley for Breakfast

I look at a lot of food blogs aka “food porn,” and the other day I saw a post about parsley in smoothies and how the blogger tricked her kids into eating extra greens. Well, last night we were able to get into town for groceries and replenish our smoothie supplies – so this morning I added the parsley. 1/4 C no fat plain yogurt 1 C low fat plain soy milk 1 banana 3/4 C strawberries 3 sprigs of parsley I like it, but think it could have used a squeeze of honey. Brian didn’t like it as much as I did.
